Company Overview

National Social Security Fund is a sovereign wealth fund of the Government Of People's Republic Of China. The firm manages capital and equity assets derived from reduction of state-owned shares, fiscal allocation of the central government, and other investment proceeds. It invests in bank deposits, treasury bonds, and other financial instruments including marketable security investment funds, stocks, and securities such as corporate bonds and financial bonds. The firm also invests in private equity through external fund managers. It invests domestically and in emerging market economies and Europe. National Social Security Fund was founded in August 2000 and is based in Beijing, China.

Alibaba Reportedly Finalizes Private Placement

Alibaba Group Holding Limited (NYSE:BABA) has finalized a private placement valuing it about $45 billion, a person familiar with the matter said. Ant Financial Services Group sold stakes to external investors, including China Development Bank Capital Co., Ltd and a holding company affiliated with David Yu, the person said. National Social Security Fund of China also acquired about 5%, the person said.

CCB and National Social Security Fund Announce Old-Age Pension Management Firm to Start Operation Middle June 2015

China Construction Bankconfirmed the news that CCB's old-age pension management firm will start operation middle June 2015. The newborn was jointly established by CCB and the National Social Security Fund. After the establishment of the newborn, CCB's former old-age pension business department will be immediately withdrawn as all of the department's business and staff will be merged into the newborn. The newborn is the domestic first piloted old-age pension firm and the pilot is expected to be fully rolled out in the future.

Brightoil Reportedly Attracts Interest From Social Security Fund

National Social Security Fund is interested in Brightoil Petroleum Holdings Limited (SEHK:933) according to two sources close to the deal. The sources said that the sale of shares in the company had also attracted interest from major companies and sovereign funds. Officials from the National Council for the Social Security Fund were not immediately available for comment, The Economic Times added.
