The company serves consumers through retail Websites, such as amazon.com and amazon.ca, which primarily include merchandise and content purchased for resale from vendors and those offered by third-party sellers. It also offers programs that enable sellers to sell their products on company's Websites, and their own branded Websites; and programs, which allow authors, musicians, filmmakers, app developers, and others to publish and sell content. In addition, the company serves developers and enterprises through Amazon Web Services that provides compute, storage, database, analytics, applications, and deployment services that enable virtually various businesses. Further, it manufactures and sells electronic devices, including Kindle e-readers, fire tablets, fire TVs, echo, and fire phones; and provides Kindle Direct Publishing, an online platform that allows independent authors and publishers to make their books available in the Kindle Store. Additionally, the company offers Amazon Prime, an annual membership program, which provides free shipping of various items; access to instant streaming of movies and TV episodes; and access to books to borrow and read on a Kindle device, as well as provides publishing, digital content subscriptions, and advertising services; and co-branded credit card agreements. Amazon.com, Inc. was founded in 1994 and is headquartered in Seattle, Washington.

Amazon Opens First-Ever Staffed Campus Pickup and Drop-Off Location at Purdue University

Amazon Inc. announced the opening of Amazon@Purdue, its first-ever staffed customer order pickup and drop-off location, housed in the Krach Leadership Centre at Purdue University's West Lafayette, Indiana campus. Now, with this opening, Purdue students have a new convenient option for receiving textbooks and other college essentials, all at the same prices they find every day on Amazon, as well as a hassle-free way to return textbook rentals and other orders. The opening of Amazon@Purdue marks the next phase of the collaboration announced by Purdue and Amazon in August 2014, where Amazon will return a percentage of eligible sales to customers that have activated the Purdue experience to the university, including sales to faculty, staff and alumni. Reportedly, Purdue will use the proceeds for its student affordability and accessibility initiatives. Amazon plans to open a second location this spring in the Purdue Memorial Union building. Also this spring, all Purdue students will be eligible for free one-day shipping on Purdue textbooks shipped to the West Lafayette campus area.
