Rate Profile Information for SIQUTOTA

This sector stores overall, resident and citizen unemployment rates and number of unemployed persons for Singapore after the Manpower Research and Statistics Department revised the coverage and estimation procedures used in the quarterly Labor Force Survey in Q2 2005 to yield more accurate estimates of unemployment from the survey. Please refer to {ALLX SIUN} for series prior to revision. The scope of the survey covers private households on the main island of Singapore. It excludes workers living in construction worksites, dormitories and workers' quarters at the workplace and persons commuting from abroad to work in Singapore. Estimates of the total labour force are derived by combining data on residents (including citizens and permanent residents) obtained from the survey with foreign workforce data compiled from administrative records. Unemployed person refers to persons aged fifteen years and over who are not working but are available for work and are actively looking for a job during the refererence period or the week preceding the date of the survey interview. They include persons who are not working but are taking steps to start their own business or taking up a new job after the reference period. Unemployment rate refers to the percentage of unemployed persons to the total number of economically active persons aged 15 years and over during the quarter. Data for the prior quarter may be revised. Figures refer to the percentage of unemployed persons to the total number of economically active persons aged 15 years and over during the quarter. Data for the prior quarter may be revised.
