Mockery as Art Form

Long before there was facebook and blogs, Viagra spam and inarticulate LOLCats, there was taunting, teasing, baiting and badgering online. This election season, however, has brought digital heckling to new heights as political satire is crowdsourced in real time like never before. Sure, the 2008 presidential election had Obama Girl, #joetheplumber, #lipstickonapig. Now, more tweets are sent every two days than all the tweets combined before Election Day 2008, according to Twitter.
