Burundi’s top prosecutor asked foreign countries to arrest 34 people, including soldiers, journalists and lawyers, it accused of backing a failed coup in the East African nation in May.
Nine military officers, including ex-intelligence chief General Godefroid Niyombare, who attempted to seize power when President Pierre Nkurunziza was abroad, are among those targeted by arrest warrants, Secretary-General of the Prosecution Agnes Bangiricenge said Thursday in the capital, Bujumbura.
