Shari Redstone Has Three Options for Paramount Global

The two leading suitors for Paramount Global are both offering flawed deals. What will the media mogul decide?

A couple years ago, Netflix appeared to be in deep trouble. The company had lost customers for the first in more than a decade, faced growing competition and, like most businesses, was wrestling with inflation. Its struggles tanked the entire entertainment business.

But Netflix proved the skeptics wrong, again. Not with a great show or movie, though those helped, but with technical and operational excellence. Management built a system to crack down on password sharing and then tested different models across Latin America. The company rolled out a subscription plan with advertising that has attracted more than 40 million users in less than two years.
