Chubu Electric Shares Drop After Probe Into Nuclear Safety Data

Shares of Chubu Electric Power Co. dropped after the Japanese regional utility announced it’s investigating possible misconduct in compiling data critical to the safety of its nuclear power plant.

Chubu Electric fell as much as 8.2%, the most since April 2025. The company said on Monday it’s set up an independent panel of experts to probe how it selected earthquake data to present to the nation’s nuclear watchdog as part of a process to restart two units at its Hamaoka Nuclear Power Plant.
