Portuguese Prime Minister Luis Montenegro said he’s willing to suspend a confidence vote scheduled for Tuesday, trying to blame the opposition Socialists for any move that would lead to the disruption of a snap election.

The premier is trying to survive after less than one year in office. Montenegro requested the confidence vote last week, saying he wanted to clarify whether his center-right minority government had “all the conditions” to carry out its program after struggling to put an end to speculation about potential conflicts of interest related to a company owned by his family.
