Abu Dhabi Consortium Taps Rothschild, StanChart for GEMS Bid

An Abu Dhabi-linked consortium has tapped Rothschild & Co. and Standard Chartered Plc as advisers on a takeover bid for Dubai-based GEMS Education, one of the world’s largest private school operators, people familiar with the matter said.
Sovereign wealth fund ADQ and real estate developer Aldar Properties PJSC, which has an education subsidiary, are among the investors exploring a joint bid for CVC Capital Partners-backed GEMS, Bloomberg has reported. Another Abu Dhabi sovereign fund, Mubadala Investment Co., is a major shareholder of Aldar.
