Aeroflot Surge Counters European Airline Stock Decline: Chart

Aeroflot PJSC has earned investors more than 80 percent in dollar terms this year, its best performance ever, while shares are sliding at other major European carriers, particularly U.K.-based EasyJet Plc. The collapse of rival Transaero Airlines has helped Aeroflot’s earnings, according to Aton analyst Mikhail Ganelin, and the stock has been bolstered by the ruble’s gain against the dollar, while the pound has fallen. Other airlines face widening competition, waning demand following terrorist attacks and concerns about post-Brexit traffic rights between the U.K. and the rest of Europe.
