Donald Trump leads Republican presidential candidates nationally with 21% support of primary voters, followed closely by Ben Carson with 20%, NBC/WSJ poll finds.
- Carly Fiorina, Marco Rubio behind them with 11% support each
- In July poll, Fiorina didn’t register and Carson had 10% support
- Jeb Bush backed by 7% of voters, John Kasich 6% and Ted Cruz 5%
- No other Republican gets more than 3%
- NOTE: Poll conducted mostly after Scott Walker suspended his campaign on Sept. 21
- On the Democratic Side, Hillary Clinton leads field with 42% support, followed by Bernie Sanders with 35%
- Vice President Joe Biden, who hasn’t said whether he’s running, draws 17%
- Poll surveyed 256 Democratic voters from Sept. 20-24 with error margin of +/- 6.1ppts and 230 GOP primary voters with error margin of +/- 6.5ppts
