BioNTech SE plans to halt operations at several manufacturing sites, affecting as many as 1,860 jobs, due to dwindling demand for its Covid-19 vaccine.

The facilities are in German towns including Idar-Oberstein, Marburg and Tübingen, as well as in Singapore, and BioNTech is exploring options such as a partial or total sale to avoid closures, the company said Tuesday.
