Nigerian Chief of Army Staff Tukur Buratai ordered that troops be placed on a state of alert following intelligence reports that the Islamist militant group, Boko Haram, is planning attacks in areas including the capital, Abuja, military spokesman Rabe Abubakar said.
“There’s no threat that can be taken lightly,” Abubakar said by phone Wednesday, referring to recent warnings of attacks made by the militants. Extra troops are deploying in Abuja, he said.
