Hungary’s economic sentiment index rose to the highest this year in July as business confidence improved and consumers became less pessimistic, bolstering government projections for accelerating economic growth following a dismal first quarter.

The economic sentiment index rose to zero, the highest since January, from minus 3.7 in June, the GKI research institute in Budapest said in an e-mailed statement on Monday. The business gauge jumped to 5.6 from 1.7 and the consumer-confidence index improved to minus 16.1, the strongest level since April 2014, from minus 19.2.
