‘X-Men’ Outdraws ‘Alice’ Sequel as Fox Film Tops Disney’s

“X-Men: Apocalypse,” the seventh installment in 20th Century Fox’s series about mutant humans with extraordinary powers, led the North American box office this weekend, outdrawing Walt Disney Co.’s latest live-action take on “Alice in Wonderland.”
The Marvel Comics-based movie opened with sales of $65 million in U.S. and Canadian theaters over the first three days of the Memorial Day weekend, ComScore Inc. said Sunday in an e-mailed statement. “Alice Through the Looking Glass” made its debut with sales of $28.1 million to land in second place.
