Facebook Changes Guidelines for Trending Topics

Facebook is changing how it determines which news stories are “trending,” after recent allegations of political bias in its selections.
The company said it will no longer require stories to appear on sites considered news leaders, including the New York Times and Buzzfeed, as that requirement could lead to bias. Facebook also will stop using its curated RSS feed for news and a list of 1,000 sites it deemed trustworthy, according to a report issued Monday.
