Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi won a confidence vote called to push through legal recognition for homosexual couples in Roman Catholic Italy, among the last European Union states without such a provision.
The lower house backed Renzi’s government with 369 votes in favor and 193 votes against, ahead of another, definitive vote on the law allowing same-sex civil unions expected later Wednesday.
