Verizon Union Head to Appear at Sanders Rally as Strike Goes On

The leaders of roughly 39,000 striking Verizon Communications Inc. workers will take their labor battle to the national political stage Wednesday night in New York at a event for Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders.
Chris Shelton, president of the Communications Workers of America, will appear at a Manhattan rally for the Vermont senator, who’s campaigning in New York ahead of the state’s primary next Tuesday. Sanders, who won the union’s endorsement in December, also appeared at a CWA rally in Brooklyn earlier Wednesday.
