Coke Adds Two Ballparks to Extend Its MLB Soft-Drink Lead: Chart

Coca-Cola Co. added some insurance runs to its lead over rival PepsiCo Inc. in the battle for North American baseball fans. As the Major League Baseball season gets under way this week, the Atlanta-based company is partnering with two more teams -- the New York Mets and the Chicago White Sox. Both were previously sponsored by Pepsi. Only one of 30 MLB teams isn’t sponsored by either of the two soft-drink giants. That’s the Oakland Athletics, which switched to no-calorie Zevia soda in 2014.
