North Korean-Built Namibian Munitions Plant Probed by UN

The United Nations is probing a munitions plant that North Korea built in Namibia to see if there has been a violation of sanctions, a diplomat said.
Namibia says that the plant at the Oamites military base near the central town of Rehoboth was built in 2005, before the UN imposed sanctions on North Korea in 2006. On Feb. 29. Vice News reported that the plant was being built by North Korea, citing a UN report. On March 3, Namibia’s Minister of Defence Penda ya Ndakolo denied its existence, according to the Namibian newspaper. On March 14, the government confirmed that the plant had been built, the newspaper said.
