One person was confirmed dead with more than 60 others injured after an accident involving about ten cars occurred inside a highway tunnel in the western Japanese prefecture of Hiroshima, Jiji reported. 

About six of the cars caught on fire after the accident, which happened around 7:30am local time today, Jiji said. Public broadcaster NHK showed footage of thick black smoke billowing from inside the 840-meter long tunnel, which is located on the Sanyo Expressway near the city of Higashi-Hiroshima.
