France’s Justice Minister Christiane Taubira quit after rejecting President Francois Hollande’s plan to strip dual-national terrorists of their French citizenship.
The plan, which requires a constitutional amendment, has drawn opposition from within Hollande’s own Socialist Party, with Taubira openly criticizing it. Hollande and Taubira “agreed on the need to bring her role to an end as the debate on constitutional changes begins,” the president’s office said in a statement Wednesday.
