In the span from 9 a.m. Shanghai time -- or 8 p.m. in New York -- China fixes the yuan, before equity markets open on the mainland and in Hong Kong. With China’s market turmoil reverberating around the world this week, volume on e-mini Standard & Poor’s 500 Index contracts in that hour has soared, with almost 75,000 March contracts changing hands in the last session.
