China Three Gorges Becomes Brazil's No. 2 Private Power Operator

China Three Gorges Corp. completed its acquisition of two hydropower plants totaling 4,995 megawatts in Brazil, becoming the Latin American nation’s second-biggest private power generator.
The world’s largest dam operator spent about $3.7 billion winning the 30-year right to run the projects, which include the 3,444-megawatt Ilha Solteira plant and the 1,551-megawatt Jupiá plant, Three Gorges said in a statement Wednesday.
