Deere to Lay Off Workers at Illinois Plant Amid Demand Slump

Deere & Co., the world’s largest manufacturer of agricultural machinery, is indefinitely laying off 220 workers at an Illinois plant amid weak demand for the company’s products.

The employees at Deere’s seeding and cylinder factory in Moline will be laid off from Feb. 15, the company said Monday in a statement. Deere forecast last week a third successive decline in full-year sales.
