Russia’s security services may be given more powers to fight terrorism, the speaker of the upper house of parliament said.
The Federation Council will consider measures against those who provide “moral, financial, informational and other support” for terrorists, Speaker Valentina Matviyenko told a joint session of parliament on Friday. The initiative followed public demands to boost the ability of the security services to fight terrorism, she said.
