Guinea has recorded 17 days without a new confirmed case of Ebola and a two-week-old infant remains the only person at a treatment center in the capital, Conakry, the National Coordinating Unit for the Fight Against Ebola said.
The first test for the virus on the infant, whose mother died of the disease, was negative, unit spokesman Fode Tass Sylla said by phone. The baby will be declared disease free if the results of a second test, due later Monday, are also negative, Sylla said.
