Visa Inc., the world’s largest payments network, may announce as early as Monday that it’s acquiring former subsidiary Visa Europe Ltd., according to a person briefed on the plan.

The deal, which would unify the brand globally after the companies separated eight years ago, is valued at more than $20 billion, said the person, asking not to be identified because the talks are private. Visa, which is scheduled to report fourth-quarter results Monday, said in July that it was in discussions over a potential deal and would provide an update during the quarterly earnings call, if not sooner.
