The Russian central bank’s plans to subdue inflation are testing even President Vladimir Putin’s command of numbers.
“About 5 to 6 percent is expected by 2017 -- what are you betting on?” Putin asked Governor Elvira Nabiullina Tuesday at a conference organized by VTB Capital in Moscow. “God bless the central bank,” Putin said after hearing “four” from Nabiullina.
