Ukraine Leader Says No Privileges for Russia on $3 Billion Bond

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said Russia would get no privileges over a $3 billion Eurobond sold under his predecessor, prolonging the stalemate over the loan.

Ukraine, mired in recession and battling a more-than-yearlong pro-Russian insurgencyBloomberg Terminal, eased the pressure on government finances in August by reaching an agreement with its main private creditors on debt restructuring. While it also called on the Kremlin to accept the deal, including a maturity extension and a 20 percent writedown, Russia wants payment in full when it matures in December, saying the bond is official debt.
