Canada’s Finance Minister Joe Oliver, in the middle of an election campaign at home, made an unexpected appearance in Turkey to attend a meeting of global finance ministers and central bankers, citing growing worries about the state of the global economy.
Oliver, who had not initially planned a break from the campaign to attend the Group of 20 meeting in Ankara, said his participation was important given the global market turmoil.
