French CEO Pay Debate Revived as Combes Package Gets Criticism

French Finance Minister Michel Sapin criticized the payout Alcatel-Lucent SA’s departing Chief Executive Officer Michel Combes is set to receive, reviving the debate on executive compensation in the country.
Combes, who helped negotiate the sale of Alcatel-Lucent to Nokia Oyj, is getting stock over three years worth about 13 million euros ($14.6 million) at current prices, based on performance targets and a non-compete clause, according to company documents.
