China Life Profit Jumps as Investment Returns and Premiums Rise

China Life Insurance Co., the nation’s largest insurer, said profit jumped 71 percent in the first half as a stock-market rally that has since evaporated boosted investment returns and its premium income expanded.

Net income rose to 31.5 billion yuan ($4.9 billion), or 1.11 yuan a share, from 18.4 billion yuan, or 0.65 yuan a share, a year earlier, the Beijing-based company said in a statement to the Shanghai stock exchange on Wednesday.
