Greece Nears Third Aid Deal as Schaeuble Expresses Optimism

Germany’s Wolfgang Schaeuble signaled optimism euro-area finance ministers would back a new rescue program for Greece, edging further back from a crisis that has threatened the integrity of the single currency.

Schaeuble and his counterparts from the 19-nation euro zone were moving toward approval in Brussels on Friday of a three-year aid package worth as much as 86 billion euros ($96 billion), according to three officials with knowledge of the talks. A deal is expected to be reached later in the evening, said the people, who asked not to be identified because talks are ongoing.
