U.S. drone aircraft have begun attacks on militants from Turkey’s Incirlik airbase and missions by manned aircraft stationed there will begin soon, the Pentagon said on Wednesday.

“We’ve now started dropping” weapons from drones, spokesman Navy Captain Jeff Davis said, declining to identify targets. The attacks began on Tuesday and manned strikes would begin soon but not this week, he said, as deploying aircraft, crew and weapons takes longer than for drone operations.
