China Former Top General Snared in Xi’s Corruption Crackdown

China’s Communist Party expelled a retired top general of the People’s Liberation Army on suspicion of corruption, the highest-level military official ensnared in a graft case in more than six decades.
Guo Boxiong, 73, was removed from the party during a Politburo meeting presided over by President Xi Jinping, the official Xinhua News Agency said. The move strips Guo of his legal protections as a senior party figure and he potentially faces military trial.
