Nikkei Inc. said it will respect the editorial independence of the Financial Times, the venerable British newspaper it’s buying for $1.3 billion from Pearson Plc to expand its global reach.
Japan’s largest financial news group has no plans to cut FT editorial staff and will “give financial support to further expand its digital news business,” said Naotoshi Okada, the Tokyo-based company’s chief executive officer.
