Why It's Taxing For Greeks to Operate a Church

Greek churches are under pressure.

When the former Greek government introduced a property tax (as an austerity measure) in 2011 an exemption was made for all places of worship and charitable organisations. The Greek Ministry of Finance stated that the church would be charged tax on any assets used for business.
