EMC Said to Plan Sale of Syncplicity Cloud Unit to Skyview

EMC Corp. plans to sell control of its Syncplicity online file-sharing business to Skyview Capital LLC, a person familiar with the matter said.

EMC doesn’t see Syncplicity, which competes with cloud startup Box Inc., as crucial to its core mission of selling storage hardware and software, according to the person. It will maintain a minority stake in Syncplicity, the person said, asking not to be identified discussing private information.
