Richard Zabel, who helped prosecute hedge funds during U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara’s crackdown on insider trading, is joining Elliott Management to be the firm’s top in-house lawyer.
Zabel, a graduate of Princeton University and Harvard Law School, was named general counsel and chief legal officer of the hedge fund firm effective Sept. 8, according to an internal Elliott memo obtained by Bloomberg News. Zabel will be in charge of legal and compliance matters and will report to Jon Pollock, Elliott’s co-chief investment officer.
