Kenya’s anti-graft body recommended Lands Secretary Charity Ngilu be prosecuted over a suspected illegal land transfer, the second cabinet minister to face charges under an anti-corruption drive by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission requested that Ngilu and other unidentified officers be charged with “various criminal offenses” linked to the alleged double allocation of a parcel of land, according to a statement e-mailed by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions in the capital, Nairobi. The recommendation is being reviewed, Director of Public Prosecutions Keriako Tobiko said in the statement.
