Schaeuble Says Policy Makers Aren’t Responsible for Greece Alone

Euro-area policy makers must weigh their responsibilities toward Greece against their obligations to the currency area as a whole, German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble said.

Schaeuble told reporters in Dresden on Friday that while Greece has “a very big problem,” the currency union’s accountability to Europe is also very big. The comments signal that he believes cash-strapped Greece shouldn’t be kept in the 19-nation bloc at all cost.
