Chinese President Xi to Make State Visit to U.K. in October

Chinese President Xi Jinping will make a state visit to the U.K. in October, Queen Elizabeth II said.

The trip, during which Xi will stay at Buckingham Palace, the queen’s London residence, will be the first Chinese state visit to Britain since that by President Hu Jintao in 2005.

“We look forward to welcoming His Excellency the President of the People’s Republic of China and Madame Peng on a State Visit in October,” the queen said during her speech at the State Opening of Parliament in London on Wednesday.

The queen and Prince Philip went to China on a state visit in 1986.
