North Korea canceled a visit by United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon to an inter-Korean factory park scheduled for Thursday, without giving a reason after agreeing to it less than 24 hours earlier.

North Korean authorities informed the UN of its decision early Wednesday, Ban said in a speech at a digital conference in Seoul. Their decision is “deeply regrettable,” he said, a sentiment echoed by South Korean Unification Ministry spokesman Lim Byeong Cheol at a briefing in Seoul.
