Mary Wittenberg is stepping down after 10 years as head of the New York Road Runners, the group that organizes the New York City Marathon.
Wittenberg will become global chief executive officer of Virgin Sport, a new event-centered lifestyle company created by Richard Branson’s Virgin Group Ltd, NYRR said today in an e-mailed statement. Michael Capiraso and Peter Ciaccia, her two top deputies, will take over her role starting next week.
