New York Mayor Bill de Blasio’s wish for a tax increase on homes sales of more than $1.75 million won’t be granted by Dean Skelos, the state Senate majority leader arrested this week on corruption charges related to the real-estate industry.

The mayor said Thursday he wants a 1 percent surcharge on the transfer levy in home sales over $1.75 million. The “mansion tax” would impose another 1.5 percent marginal rate on proceeds over $5 million. It needs state approval, and Skelos said he won’t give it.
