The dollar strengthened for a second day against the euro on Friday before a U.S. report that, according to economists, will show a pick-up in the jobs market.

The U.S. currency also climbed for a second day against the yen. Employers hired 228,000 workers last month, up from 126,000 in March, according to the median forecast of analysts surveyed by Bloomberg. The Labor Department releases the figure, alongside unemployment data, at 8:30 a.m. in Washington. A strong payroll number may bolster speculation of policy tightening by the Federal Reserve.
