Brazil’s Billionaire Cardiologist Buoyed by Carlyle Money

Carlyle Group LP’s purchase of a minority stake in Rio de Janeiro-based medical care provider Rede D’Or Sao Luiz boosted the fortune of Jorge Moll, the billionaire cardiologist who controls the company.
Carlyle paid about 1.75 billion reais ($600 million) for an 8.3 percent stake on April 27. The capital increase valued the company at $7.2 billion, according to a person familiar with the matter who asked not to be identified because the deal is private.
