Cairo Schoolyard Book Burning Draws Education Minister’s Ire

Egypt’s education minister criticized government officials who presided over a controversial burning of school books that they said championed the banned Muslim Brotherhood.
Officials from the Interior Ministry on April 6 poured gasoline on dozens of books at the Fadl Modern School in Cairo’s Giza district, which has links to the Brotherhood. They then formed a circle around the fire as the texts went up in flames and the national anthem blared from loudspeakers.
