When Mario Draghi reminds politicians of the importance of economic reforms, the European Central Bank president has fresh evidence to make his point.

Data published on Tuesday showed unemployment in Germany, reaping the benefits of an earlier revamp of labor rules, fell to a record low. In reform-laggard Italy, the jobless rate unexpectedly rose and the country’s inflation rate turned negative. A separate report showed a slump in euro-area consumer prices eased in March.
